This is my latest thought šŸ’ post about humans and machines and why SymbioticAI (not control AI) is the way forward for humanity in the era of super intelligent machines.

Maybe interesting šŸ¤”.

A recently published research paper from scientists at Anthropic demonstrates a method for determining how much ā€œinfluenceā€ individual instances of training data have on the generation of outputs by large language models.

The right decision may still be wrong if taken out of context, without regard for whatā€™s coming, or only based on how people feel about any topic at any moment in time.

AI thoughts šŸ’

Programming limits scope, filters data and concludes fast. Maybe too fast. Not all decisions need to be taken on the spot.

Human thoughts šŸ’ about knowledge building, concluding and AI

Knowledge limits scope, filters data and concludes. The conclusion by its very nature limits or even omits new knowledge.

What happens if we add AI?

Programming limits scope, filters data and concludes fast. Maybe too fast. Not all decisions need to be taken on the spot.

Interesting to note that both knowledge types belong to the past, which means the entire data set is deficiently incomplete, both human and machineā€¦

So

Could a machine ever learn to program itself to think without programming?

Yes, itā€™s currently under development.

Jiddu Krishnamurti (12 May 1,895 ā€” 17 February 1986) was a writer and speaker on philosophical and spiritual issues including psychological revolution, the nature of the mind, meditation, human relationships, and bringing about positive social change. Maintaining that society is ultimately the product of the interactions of individuals, he held that fundamental change in society can emerge only through freely undertaken radical change in the individual. Krishnamurti stressed the need for a revolution in the psyche of every human being and posited that such revolution cannot be brought about by any external entity, be it religious, political, or social.

He was one of the greatest minds of all time. A great visionary that predicted many things that hold truth today.

A radical revolution is needed. Human race has allready drifted this far for thousands of years, it must be reversed before itā€™s to late. Our ancestor have failed, we own this to our childrenā€™s future.

The 3 things an AI must demonstrate to be considered sentient https://lifeboat.com/blog/2022/06/the-3-things-an-ai-must-demonstrate-to-be-considered-sentient Thu, 16 Jun 2022 01:22:30 +0000 https://lifeboat.com/blog/2022/06/the-3-things-an-ai-must-demonstrate-to-be-considered-sentient

A good read.

Everybodyā€™s talking about the Google engineer who thinks a company chatbot is sentient. But what does sentience mean? property= description.

The biggest problem in AI? Machines have no common sense https://lifeboat.com/blog/2022/03/the-biggest-problem-in-ai-machines-have-no-common-sense Tue, 29 Mar 2022 03:02:18 +0000 https://lifeboat.com/blog/2022/03/the-biggest-problem-in-ai-machines-have-no-common-sense

What most people define as common sense is actually common learning, and much of that is biased.

The biggest short term problem in AI: as mentioned in the video clip, an over-emphasis on data set size, irrelevant of accuracy, representation or accountability.

The biggest long term problem in AI: Instead of trying to replace us we should be seeking to complement us. Merge is not necessary nor advisable.

If we think about it, building a machine to think like a human is like buying a race horse and insisting for it to function like a camel. And it is doomed to fail. Cos there are only two scenarios: Either humans are replaced or they are not. If we are, then we have failed. If we are not replaced, then the AI development has failed.

Time for a change of direction.

I think of a super intelligent learning machine as a data addict and then itā€™s easy to see how we fit in.

Correlation doesnā€™t equal causation ā€” we all know this. Well, except robots.

The Simplest Math Problem No One Can Solve https://lifeboat.com/blog/2022/03/the-simplest-math-problem-no-one-can-solve Fri, 11 Mar 2022 09:29:53 +0000 https://lifeboat.com/blog/2022/03/the-simplest-math-problem-no-one-can-solve

Multiply an odd number by an odd number and then add 1 always gives an even number.

Divide an even number by 2 gives an odd number half of the time and an even number half of the time.

Therefore these formulae leans towards even numbers as the output and hence if you do the calculation enough times, you will eventually end up in the 4ā€“2-1 loop.

Universal basic income is hereā€”it just looks different from what you expected https://lifeboat.com/blog/2021/12/universal-basic-income-is-here-it-just-looks-different-from-what-you-expected Mon, 27 Dec 2021 02:22:40 +0000 https://lifeboat.com/blog/2021/12/universal-basic-income-is-here-it-just-looks-different-from-what-you-expected

Any discussion on UBI eventually boils down to a question of belief in the nature of humans and the role of government. Most analysis further add wood to the fire by fueling these discussions instead of proposing valid alternatives which addresses these differences. It usually boils down to the classic question of handouts, who should pay for it, and why should we pay for it. Yet the answer lies right before our very eyes. The most valuable commodity today is data not oil or gold. Data wealth is a direct outcome of data diversity, data representation and data scale (i wrote a post on that recently which expands on that, if youā€™re interested). So, Instead of giving away our data for free to trickle-down techno believers (who may or may not give some of it back), pay me for it. Iā€™ll fund my own income, thank you very much. Every human is unique. Therefore we are all data billionaires. This comment is a charitable contribution to the new data economy by the Marc O Principle; Things are not always as complex as they seem.
