There is powerful science behind how our beliefs inform our genetic expression. It’s not our genes alone that dictate our health outcomes, rather it’s the biology of belief that determines our destiny.

Today on The Doctor’s Farmacy, I’m excited to talk to Dr. Bruce Lipton about how exactly our thoughts determine our genetic expression, and how we can influence our health using our minds.

Dr. Bruce Lipton is a stem cell biologist and author of the bestselling books, The Biology of Belief, Spontaneous Evolution, and The Honeymoon Effect. Dr. Lipton is the recipient of the prestigious Japanese Goi Peace Award and has been listed in the top 100 of “the world’s most spiritually influential people” by Briton’s Watkins Journal for the last 13 years.

“Immortality and transplanting the human stem cell” | Stella Davies | TEDxCincinnati https://lifeboat.com/blog/2023/09/immortality-and-transplanting-the-human-stem-cell-stella-davies-tedxcincinnati Fri, 15 Sep 2023 07:23:23 +0000 https://lifeboat.com/blog/2023/09/immortality-and-transplanting-the-human-stem-cell-stella-davies-tedxcincinnati

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Stella Davies asks a powerful question: If you could save the life of a child with 2 hours of your time-would you? Her talk is inspiring and encouraging. Depending on the kindness of strangers is shown throughout this talk. We have a profound impact on what we can do for each other even if we don’t know each other. Stella was born in Liverpool, England. She came to the USA in 1989, planning to stay for a year and learn more about bone marrow transplantation. Three weeks after arrival she met her American husband and has been in the US ever since. Stella is now the director of the bone marrow transplant program at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

The links between telomerase and aging https://lifeboat.com/blog/2023/09/the-links-between-telomerase-and-aging Thu, 07 Sep 2023 20:23:30 +0000 https://lifeboat.com/blog/2023/09/the-links-between-telomerase-and-aging

Telomerase helps maintain telomere length in our cells, influences how our bodies age, and why we develop diseases like cancer. If cells had enough telomerase, telomeres might not shorten at all. But in most somatic cells, it’s present in very low amounts — only enough to slow the telomere shortening down.

This is part of a short series of videos where we explore telomeres, telomere length and telomerase, as well as the impacts they have on our health.

Chapters:
00:00 What is telomerase?
00:25 What happens when telomeres are too short?
00:38 How does telomerase work?
01:23 How does telomerase affect cancer risk and aging?

Dealing With Difficulty Swallowing After a Stroke (Dysphagia) https://lifeboat.com/blog/2021/05/dealing-with-difficulty-swallowing-after-a-stroke-dysphagia Sun, 16 May 2021 15:22:28 +0000 https://lifeboat.com/blog/2021/05/dealing-with-difficulty-swallowing-after-a-stroke-dysphagia

At Rehab, a nurse explained to me that my swallowing problem was caused by weak muscles in the esophageal sphincter. That information stimulated me to create my own therapy for the esophageal sphincter. I wrote out the transcript for the therapy, and a lady named Collette read it into a recorder. I listen to the recording several times a day. My swallowing problems resulted in a feeding being inserted up my nose. The therapy makes it possible for me to eat oatmeal, grits, eggs, pasta & beef, and corn flakes. After passing the swallowing test last Friday, the Speech Pathologist sent me to the Emergency Room, where they pulled the feeding tube from my nose.

Dysphagia refers to the difficulty in swallowing after a stroke. It is a problem that can be easily managed with proper medical care.

While the mitochondrion has long fascinated biologists and the sheer diversity of druggable targets has made it attractive for potential drug development, there has been little success translatable to the clinic. Given the diversity of inborn errors of metabolism and mitochondrial diseases, mitochondrially mediated oxidative stress (myopathies, reperfusion injury, Parkinson’s disease, ageing) and the consequences of disturbed energetics (circulatory shock, diabetes, cancer), the potential for meaningful gain with novel drugs targeting mitochondrial mechanisms is huge both in terms of patient quality of life and health care costs. In this themed issue of the British Journal of Pharmacology, we highlight the key directions of the contemporary advances in the field of mitochondrial biology, emerging drug targets and new molecules which are close to clinical application. Authors’ contributions are diverse both in terms of species and organs in which the mitochondrially related studies are performed, and from the perspectives of mechanisms under study. Defined roles of mitochondria in disease are updated and previously unknown contributions to disease are described in terms of the interface between basic science and pathological relevance.

15 Frequent Causes of Difficulty Swallowing https://lifeboat.com/blog/2021/05/15-frequent-causes-of-difficulty-swallowing Thu, 13 May 2021 18:22:34 +0000 https://lifeboat.com/blog/2021/05/15-frequent-causes-of-difficulty-swallowing

Difficulty swallowing after a Stroke occurs when the esophagus becomes damaged or the muscles and nerves that control swallowing are functioning poorly. There can also be a blockage in the esophagus, which is making it difficult to swallow. It will hurt when you try to swallow. Since it’s painful, it may cause you to not want to eat. This can cause other issues to occur in your body, such as weight loss. At Rehab, a nurse explained to me that my swallowing problem was caused by weak muscles in the esophageal sphincter. Some reasons you can’t help, while others are simple.

Certain things that we do to our bodies could trigger our inability to swallow. Once you know what is causing the issue, it’ll be easier for you to swallow. Sometimes it is things you can do at home, while others need to be treated by a medical professional.

Here are eight frequent causes of difficulty swallowing.

Ghost Particle From Star Shredded by Black Hole Reveals Cosmic Particle Accelerator https://lifeboat.com/blog/2021/02/ghost-particle-from-star-shredded Mon, 22 Feb 2021 17:22:27 +0000 https://lifeboat.com/blog/2021/02/ghost-particle-from-star-shredded

A team of scientists has detected the presence of a high-energy neutrino — a particularly elusive particle — in the wake of a star’s destruction as it is consumed by a black hole. This discovery, reported in the journal Nature Astronomy, sheds new light on the origins of Ultrahigh Energy Cosmic Rays — the highest energy particles in the Universe.

The work, which included researchers from more than two dozen institutions, including New York University and Germany’s DESY research center, focused on neutrinos — subatomic particles that are produced on Earth only in powerful accelerators.

Neutrinos — as well as the process of their creation — are hard to detect, making their discovery, along with that of Ultrahigh Energy Cosmic Rays (UHECRs), noteworthy.
