All my relatives, friends, friends of friends, etc still preserve their 600-2000m2 where they grow vegetables, fruits, and berries. I heard that in Russia there is still 80 millions personal farms like this and that most of the food produced in the country is grown by people for themselves. You don’t have to pay any license for fishing (unless you use nets) and forests are full of mushrooms and berries.
