Scarcity, lack of access

Posted by in categories: complex systems, information science

Land and water, e.g., are not scarce, access to land and water is restricted.

We call the restriction “lack of access.”

There is a great effort to bring assistance to people with lack of access to scarce resources.

People have lack of access to resources because resources are restricted and resources are scarce because access to resources is restricted. Lack of access = scarce = restricted.

If resources were not restricted, would there be lack of access?

If resources were not restricted, would resources be scarce?

(lack of access + scarcity)  — restriction= { }

    I agree with you Odette. The first time I remember hearing about restricted resources was a lake access issue in Switzerland. No water skiing allowed. Hehe. I don’t think this is what you are referring to though Odette. Dope!

    The Central Valley farmers in CA can’t get water because of the drought. But there is plenty — for a while. So we need to assign numbers to numbers and needs to needs and have democracy. City vs. US jobs vs Mexican farms, etc.. Fascism is the problem I take it. This is otherwise know as good old fashioned bribery and corruption. People get itchy getting all volatile with language though don’t they? So I love your math explanation of the resource allocation problem. It’s class war. We can’t kid ourselves. Gonna regret this post! Lol.
